Sekou M. Doumbouya is a Technical Lead – Senior Staff Cloud Systems Engineer at Pinterest, where he serves as the Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) for Multi-Region and Multi-Account Architecture. With over 20 years of experience building cloud platforms at scale, Sekou specializes in the intersection of hands-on engineering and strategic architecture. At Pinterest, he led the $10M VPC Architecture Transformation, redesigning multi-region network architecture to eliminate Transit Gateway bottlenecks while maintaining zero production downtime. He also founded the Pinterest Cloud Architecture team and built the company's disaster recovery capability, reducing recovery time from 20 days to 8 hours at 12% of vendor cost. Before Pinterest, Sekou served as Technical Lead – Data Platform SRE at Quip (Salesforce), where he improved system reliability by 15%. At Oracle, he was Principal Systems Engineer developing CI/CD pipelines and GitOps-based container deployments. Earlier roles include Senior Systems Engineer at Groupon, Senior Systems Administrator at LiveOps (where he received the Amsterdam Datacenter Creation Award), and Director of Network Operations at Telvue Corporation.
